On the Kleinman-Martin Integral Equation Method for Electromagnetic Scattering by a Dielectric Body

چکیده
The interface problem describing the scattering of time-harmonic electromagnetic waves by a dielectric body is often formulated as a pair of coupled boundary integral equations for the electric and magnetic current densities on the interface Γ. In this paper, following an idea developed by Kleinman and Martin [19] for acoustic scattering problems, we consider methods for solving the dielectric scattering problem using a single integral equation over Γ for a single unknown density. One knows that such boundary integral formulations of the Maxwell equations are not uniquely solvable when the exterior wave number is an eigenvalue of an associated interior Maxwell boundary value problem. We obtain four different families of integral equations for which we can show that by choosing some parameters in an appropriate way, they become uniquely solvable for all real frequencies. We analyze the well-posedness of the integral equations in the space of finite energy on smooth and non-smooth boundaries.

Volume and surface integral equations for electromagnetic scattering by a dielectric body
We derive and analyze two equivalent integral formulations for the time-harmonic electromagnetic scattering by a dielectric object. One is a volume integral equation (VIE) with a strongly singular kernel and the other one is a coupled surface-volume system of integral equations with weakly singular kernels. The analysis of the coupled system is based on standard Fredholm integral equations, and...

A pair of basis functions is presented for the surface integral, method of moment solution of scattering by arbitrarily-shaped, three-dimensional dielectric bodies. Equivalent surface currents are represented by orthogonal unit pulse vectors in conjunction with triangular patch modeling. The electric field integral equation is employed with closed geometries for dielectric bodies; the method ma...

In this paper, the physical optics method is used to study the problem of electromagnetic scattering from Haack series nose cone. First, a meshing scheme is introduced which approximates the curvature of the surface by piecewise linear functions in both axial and rotational directions. This results in planar quadrilateral patches and enables efficient determination of the illuminated region and...
متن کاملTM Electromagnetic Scattering from Multilayered Dielectric Bodies – Numerical Solution
An integral equation approach is derived for an electromagnetic scattering from an M multilayered dielectric domain. The integral equation is valid for 2D and 3D Helmholtz equation. Here we show the numerical solution for the 2D case by using the Nyström method. For validating the method we develop a mode matching method for the case when the domains are multilayered circular cylinders and give...

We present an efficient approach for calculating the electromagnetic scattered fields (light) from a single dielectric body situated above a perfectly conducting (or reflecting) half-space. This approach employs the boundary integral equation method and is applicable to arbitrarily shaped scatterers located anywhere above the conducting half-space surface, impinged upon by arbitrary incident fi...
